Reservations
Is a reservation required?
You can board without a reservation if there are open spots on the day. However, you must complete the "Passenger List" and finalize boarding procedures at least 30 minutes before departure. Since it can be very crowded, we recommend reserving in advance online.
What payment methods are available?
For online reservations:
We ask for credit card payment in advance when booking online.
For phone reservations:
You can settle the payment at the ticket counter on the day of your cruise. We've got you covered with various options, including cash, credit cards, PayPay, au PAY, Merpay, LINE Pay, d払い, ALIPAY, WeChatPay, and more.
How can I cancel or modify a reservation?
Online Reservations: Log in via the "Reservation Confirmation Email" sent after booking and complete the process through your account page.
Phone Reservations: Contact our reservation desk by phone.
Changes can be made until 5:30 PM the day before. Please confirm your boarding time and itinerary in advance.
Boarding
When should I check in before departure?
Check-in starts 60 minutes before departure and closes 30 minutes prior. Please allow extra time, as it can be very busy. Starting this year (2025), a completed "Passenger List" is required. Download the form from our website, fill it out, and bring it with you.
Can I board in a wheelchair?
You can board Garinko III IMERU while staying in a wheelchair. Just keep in mind that while the second floor, where the boarding gate is, is wheelchair accessible, there are only stairs to move between the first and third floors.
Regrettably, Garinko II is not wheelchair accessible.
Can I reserve seats?
Seat reservations are not available. Enjoy the flexibility of open seating, allowing you to relax in any available seat on board or step out onto the deck to savor the views.
Drift Ice
When can I see drift ice?
Drift ice usually first appears in late January and lasts until mid-March. The peak season is from early February to early March. However, this may vary depending on the year.
Is drift ice guaranteed?
Drift ice is a natural phenomenon affected by weather conditions such as temperature and wind. We cannot guarantee you will see it on the day of your cruise.
Garinko Ships
What are the differences between Garinko III IMERU and Garinko II?
Garinko III IMERU:
Launched in 2021, this newly constructed ship is designed for higher speed. It allows for a quicker journey to areas with drift ice.
Garinko II:
Slightly smaller in size compared to Garinko III IMERU, Garinko II puts you closer to the sea surface, delivering a more intense and immersive experience.

There is no direct bus service to the facility. Travel by train or bus takes 4–5 hours. We recommend using a car, rental car, or the seasonal Express Bus.

Is parking available?
Yes, free parking is available.

What are the temperatures during peak winter?
Temperatures range from -15°C to 0°C depending on the time of day and weather. It’s much colder on the ship, so please dress warmly.
Are there restrooms on board?
Both Garinko II and Garinko III IMERU are equipped with restroom facilities.
Can I live-stream on social media from the ship?
To protect passenger privacy and avoid disruption, live streaming via platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok is prohibited.
